This was a card I made for my sisters father-in-law. I used an image from an old calendar that I had saved, and also scanned it into the computer, re-coloured it to appear as a very pale colour wash for the insert inside the card. To create the 3-D numbers I put the picture into my computerised cutting machine and then stuck the cut outs onto another set of cut out numbers. These were then stuck back in place and obviously appear slightly raised from the card. I am still getting used to using my 'Zing' and the 'Make the Cut' software - but when I get everything right I am usually very pleased with my results. I bought my machine a couple of years ago now, and it has been superseded by a wireless model....(wish I had waited!) but I have mine set up in my craft room with a laptop so the wires are not really a bother.
This card I also made using elements cut on my Zing machine. I had never made paper flowers before and the cutting machine made light work of them. There are plenty of free cutting files out there if you search, so re-sizing and cutting to suit your size of project is easy. I used a hot glue gun to stick the paper flowers to the front of the card, Needless to say, this card had to be hand delivered as it couldn't go in an envelope to be posted! It is also the largest card I have ever made....a bit of a joke as I wanted to give my mother a card that would be larger then the one my sister always sends each year! I have to say I have not repeated this 'one-upmanship' and this year reverted to a standard A6 size!
This card was for my sister-in-law. Simple stamping on coloured card and colouring with watercolour pencils. I stuck on some pearls and tiny beads in the centre of the flowers. I tend to make cards in A sizes....but this one was a first for me.....square! This stamp by Stampendous (Ruffled Bloom) is fast becoming one of my favourites as it has so many possibilities.
January 2016 - First card of the New Year
This one is for my son in law. He is a cornet player and a member of a top ranking local brass band - thus the design! Trying to think up suitable 'male' cards doesn't come easy - but when they have hobbies or interests that certainly helps!
I had real problems finding an image of a cornet that I could use as a cut file. I had to simplify my chosen one a great deal before I was happy with the silhouette shape and shadow mount. I wasted quite a few sheets of card making this one! I think I need a new blade in my cutting machine as despite setting it to cut twice, some parts did not come clean when taken off the cutting mat.
