Busy day

I did quite a bit of sewing today after finally finishing the binding on the second twin hourglass quilt.  I finished sashing all the 4 patch posy blocks into four double strips to go around the central panel.  I made one mistake that I only noticed when I had pinned the double rows onto the design wall.  I had flipped one row when sewing them together.  I couldn't understand why I had two orange blocks next to each other - so when I realised what I had done I had to unpick the long strip of sashing and sew it to the other side.  I also changed one block.  I wasn't happy how it looked next to others.  It was a good job I had some spare.  Tomorrow I will have to carefully measure and trim the central panel so that the rows of blocks fit.  Not looking forward to that!  I am now at the stage that I really need to think how I am going to quilt this.  It is not as big as a single quilt, so I should be able to manage quilting it on my sewing machine.  However, I am wondering whether to quilt it in sections first before sewing all the elements together.  I am not sure whether that is a good solution having looked at various videos on the internet.  It is the joining and finishing of the backing that I am unsure about.  I know I am going to use my Brother quilting embroidery card to quilt each block.  I have had a practice using two different designs - one will fit the blocks exactly - the other is smaller so might look a little odd.  The choice of quilting thread too might need some thought although black seems the obvious choice.  The main problem will be deciding how to quilt the panel.  Might seek some advice on this as the floral panel design wouldn't suit an all over quilting design in my opinion.  Perhaps I should wait a week and take what I have done so far to the quilting group I have just joined and see what suggestions I get.
