I have now finished my 4 patch posy top apart from the final border. I am not sure what size to add, so may cut a 2.5" strip that can be cut smaller if needed. I will leave the decision of the backing and binding until later.
I want the actual quilting of this to be good, not a make do and mend approach on my home sewing machine. So I have been looking at alternatives to the expensive long arm quilting set ups. After looking at a number of options, and watched numerous videos, I have decided to buy a quilting frame from the Machine Quilting Shop - and will complete it with the recommended Juki TL-98P sewing machine that seems to get good reviews from other quilters. As this combined system can be portable I should be able to set it up for short term use and put away when not needed, making this very practical compared to larger systems. If I buy the 8' frame I should still be able to quilt a queen size if needed. More on this when final decisions re the logistics of buying and collecting have been made. This is the New England Quilter video that sold me!
