I haven't done much in my craft room this week other than a tidy up and a putting away of things I had finished with. I have placed an order for the quilting frame and will now have to wait until nearly the end of November before it will be ready and I can collect it. I will be given a hands on tutorial and will be helped in learning how to set it up with my machine and to get the tension right. So my idea now is to make another quilt top or two using my scrap materials.
I had bought this material to make another 4 patch posy quilt. I am disappointed with it as the posies don't really look different enough from the actual fabric! Obviously you need a much bolder less fussy print. I found a quilt design that I thought would look OK using these blocks so spent some time calculating material requirements. Of course the fabrics from my stash are short of what I need which is really annoying. Making the quilt smaller wouldn't work as it was going to be a small one anyway! I will put this project to one side for the time being.
I decided to have a trip out to the quilting shop in Southport and treated myself to an end of roll length of an oriental fabric and some batiks. I have a project in mind for 2 wall hangings that these fabrics will be ideal for. So I will draw out my designs and work out how to cut and piece the material.
Today I have finished the top for the Project Linus quilt that I will take to the next quilting group meeting. I will need to select a backing for it.
