Project Linus Quilt Finished

I have been a bit lax in updating my crafty progress since last week.  I attended the 'Phoenix Patchers' group for their AGM on Wednesday and paid my subs for the year.  I was given a length of fleece to complete my Project Linus quilt and I found something suitable from the donated material box for the binding.  I was also given a length of material and told 'see what you can do with that'.  It was the most hideous design I have ever seen.
No offence to the designer who was most probably given a specific brief - but I could not understand why anyone in their right mind would buy this!  Anyway, it was obviously bought and then donated to the patchers.  The colours were very 60's but it was the skulls that put me off!  So being very much into 4 patch posy stack and whack mode, I thought I would apply this technique and hopefully lose the skulls in the process.
I had some scrap material in my stash that I thought would work well for the sashing and I couldn't see myself using it for anything else.  At this point I began to think how I would actually quilt this.  I would be using the rest of the fleece I was given for the backing, so thought I would get out my embroidery attachment for my sewing machine and do something 'fancy'.  I am quite pleased with the result although it was very time consuming setting up the frame for every motif.  To finish I stitched
a simple square inside each posy block.  I have used some small green checked fabric for the binding that gives a little more 'buzz' to the quilt.  I now just have the hand sewing to do.  I might leave that until Thursday then I will post a picture of both finished Project Linus Quilts.
