Today I finished the 'dutch cottage' quilt top. It was only when I was ironing the borders that I noticed the 'blotches' on the orange border. These blotches are very random over the material but some appear stronger than others and could be mistaken for dirty marks! Perhaps once quilted they won't look as obvious ( but I doubt that). I cannot be bothered removing and replacing the border at this stage as the quilt will only be on a spare bed. I still have no idea how to quilt this. I am tempted to just do an all over pantograph design, but really wanted to have a go at individual quilting in the blocks to show off the design. I will put it onto the frame and then decide.
I have also begun to make 6" 'scrappy' blocks from all my bits and pieces. The plan is to make a block or two every time I sit at the machine to do something else. I am quite enjoying the process. I will sash them together with a 2" corner square and as I took part in a swap recently I should manage to have each one in a different fabric!
I was thinking of using black for the sashing as I have quite a few different blacks and would I suppose add to the 'scrappy' look on close inspection.
