Following on from my top made from scraps that I finished yesterday, I thought to put to use more of the linen and curtain leftovers. I had bought some bag frames a while ago but hadn't as yet got around to trying to make a bag. I found
this site on the web with very good instructions that I followed almost to the letter! Using the embroidery attachment to my Brother Galaxy 2000 sewing machine, I picked out some embroidery designs I had bought from Angie Spong many years ago. I embroidered two motifs on some of the linen scrap and joined the strip to some of the left over curtain material. I made a pattern using instructions found on the internet and as this was my first attempt at making a bag using a frame I wasn't quite sure how it would turn out.
Not sure if I like the finished shape but it has given be confidence to see what else I can come up with. The frame is quite chunky and I think it needs thicker material. I used a stiff iron on interfacing, but I could have used wadding as well. So my next attempt may well be embroidered and quilted - we shall see.
I cannot see me actually using this bag - but as a practice for future attempts it has been a good learning tool. My next attempt will have a pocket for a phone attached to the lining I think and I may try a stiffer interfacing.
