Mystery Quilt Clue #4

As soon as I saw clue #4 I groaned out loud.  Never having done a mystery quilt before I underestimated just how much fabric I would need wider than 2.5".  My purples were mainly fat quarters with only three pieces measuring about 3/4 yard.  Enough in total according to the initial instructions - but not enough to provide a mixture for this clue.  I had cut my purple fat quarters for the previous clue into 2.5 strips, and obviously cut too many.  Now I would not have enough material to give a scrappy look.  Fortunately when I popped back into the fabric shop where I had bought the purple fat quarter bundle, they still had one left.  Phew!  If more clues need the purple in 2.5 widths I will be OK.  As if my lack of purple wasn't enough of a problem, once I started sewing I ran into another.  I had string pieced all 60 before I noticed that my tension was way off and the underside was just a series of loops.  I re-threaded the machine, did a test, and everything seemed alright again.  No idea what happened, but it took a while to undo all that I had sewn, and then re-sew them.  So another 60 blocks sewn (just checked and I need 80!!) and eagerly awaiting the next clue on Friday.  My camera cannot seem to cope with showing purple.....one of the fabrics looks blue when it is actually a lovely mid purple!  So here is the link to others who are posting what they have done so far.
