Scrappy Irish Chain Quilt

Last year, and again last month, I took part in a 2.5" square swap.  I put together sets of 100 x 2.5" squares, with each set containing unique one off squares (no duplicates).  Last year I swapped 2 sets, this year 5 sets. Obviously I then received the same number of squares from my swap partners.  So much fun looking at what was sent.
I had already made an initial sort of the squares into groups of colours, and this week sorted into sets of 5.  Today I cut 2.5 strips from an old white Egyptian cotton double sheet (discarding the worn areas) and then sub cut into 2.5" squares. (Will still have loads more to do).  I then began making my 9-patch blocks.  What fun. As each square of fabric is different I am sure I will not be bored sewing these together.  My daughter gave me a small storage container for Christmas which is ideal for storing my groups of squares ready for sewing in the top lift out tray.  My completed blocks can be stored in the lower level.  I plan to make these at my quilting group - so having a dedicated storage box that can fit in the carrier bag for my sewing machine is good.
