After my last post where I stated quite clearly that I was not in love with my Mystery Quilt I was touched that some people had taken the time and trouble to leave messages of encouragement. The problem of points not meeting in places is all due to those stupid purple/lilac units being just a fraction too big. I have of course corrected all those not sewn, but now that I have begun sewing the sashings to the large blocks it is clear that I am now going to have to undo a lot of them. Why oh why did I not check thoroughly before I began sewing? I know why.....too impatient.....that's the problem.
I also noticed that on one of my blocks, despite ages re-positioning before sewing, I had three pieces of the same fabric in close proximity and they just stood out. So my solution was to get out my Inktense colour pencils and add a strong pattern to two of the pieces and 'hey presto' they now look different! They still look blue in this picture when they are actually quite a lovely light purple!. I may do more of the same on some of the pieces elsewhere in the quilt just to tie them in a bit more.
Below is one completed row of blocks and sashings (no border yet). It will take quite a while to do the others as I have quite a bit of undoing to do and all because of those pesky purple/lilac square units and my own stupidity and carlessness!
To relieve my boredom this afternoon (just couldn't face any undoing) I sewed together another 6 of my 9-patch blocks....they were quick and easy and calmed me down after the frustration of the morning.
