I have now put away my 'Mystery Quilt' top ready for quilting later on in the year when I will set up my frame and machine and 'do' all my tops at the same time when the days are longer and the light better. The mystery quilt ended up too wide for it to fit on my frame, so I have had to leave off the side borders and will have to add them after quilting the middle. I will then quilt the 'borders' before adding the binding. Looking at the quilt in the picture I am re-assessing my feelings for this quilt. I expect that once it is finished I will like it a little more. I don't think I will do another quilt like this.....it is just too scrappy for me - but from a distance it doesn't look too bad. ( Hubby commented on how far a distance I would have to go before I loved it!!) I am still not sure what I will do with it. I don't want to give it to anyone in the family unless they specifically wish for it.....I don't want to foist something onto someone who wouldn't want it! I may try to sell it - but I won't expect to get back what I paid for the material.
So this week I have gone back to my 9-patch swaps blocks and had so much pleasure sewing them together and seeing how they look when sewn.
We shall see. I will finish all my 9-patch blocks before I make a decision.
What I like about these are the fact that every single piece of coloured fabric is different. (some the same pattern but a different colour).
