HST Update

I finished sewing together all the HST strips yesterday.  The randomness is OK apart from one area near the top right black strip where the eye tends to focus on an orange circle effect!  Once my eye saw this it keeps being drawn to it.  However, I am not going to change it now.  The top just fits a queen bed with no overlap, so I may well add a plain border - what colour I am not sure - perhaps a batik?  I will have to see whether adding a border means it will not then fit onto my quilting frame.  It will be a bother if not, and I will then have to do what I am going to have to do with my Mystery Quilt which will be to quilt the centre on the frame and then add the border afterwards and finish the quilting on the ordinary sewing machine.  I may have to enquire as to how much it would cost to buy extra pieces for my frame so that I could quilt larger tops.  I am wishing I had bought the larger version....but at the time cost and space were an issue.  I will have to stick to making smaller quilts!

Orphan Update.

I have sewn together some of my 4 patch posy orphan blocks but will not have time now to do anything more with them.  I go into hospital next week for a hip replacement operation so I am not sure when I will be able to sit at my sewing machine, or stand at my quilting frame.  I may well have to put my sewing to one side for a time.  Looks like I will be knitting instead!
