Finished at last!

Well here it is at last.  My Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt 2016 finished.  I fell out of love with this quilt part way through......caused by the strong yellow.  Hindsight is such a wonderful thing isn't it.  I should have used the wrong side of the yellow fabric as it was much paler on the reverse side.  I did that with this fabric in my scrappy stars quilt and it works much better.  Anyway - I was happy with the quilting and it doesn't look too bad now that it is on a bed.  It will however have to find another home as I have plans for a different quilt on this bed!
Here is a close up of the backing and the quilting design.  The 'quilt police' won't be happy with this quilt as the backing is not pure cotton!  This mystery was a very expensive impulse on my part.....I had to buy lots of fabric and because the quilt was too big to fit on my original quilting frame I ended up buying a set of longer rods and rails to finish it!  The good part though is that I now have two sets of rods and rails so I can set up my frame as a medium or large size now depending on the size of my project.  I have also managed to store the rods and rails without them taking up too much room!

These blocks are a first for me - never made these shapes before.
The Mystery Quilt 2017 is now at clue #4 and I didn't bother to do the Monday link up for the last two clues.  I decided at the start that I would not be making all the required blocks - instead I would make just a few.  I would decide what to do upon the final reveal.  I didn't want to buy any more material and might just make a 'fabric piece' that I can quilt and turn into something else.  I have a fancy to make a 'weekender' bag.......we shall see.
