I made this small apron using up some fabric that was left over from the futon cover I finished a week ago. Again it gave me the opportunity to try something new on my new sewing machine ie. button holes. I was not expecting the buttonhole foot to be different from that for my old Brother machine - but it was. It has an additional attachment lead that you plug into the back of the machine. Instead of putting the button into the button hole foot and letting the machine work out the size you need, you have to tell the machine what the size of the button is and it then sews the button hole to that length. It is a good job I did a trial first. I found it was better to measure the button and then tell the machine a slightly larger length, otherwise the hole when cut is too tight.
I just love the appliques that I bought from
DesignsbyJuJu and I have a feeling that I might be buying a few more as there is another sale on this month!
Shame my camera didn't get the colours right as the material should be a nice turquoise with a peach lining.
