This was another project to get to grips with my new sewing machine. Due to Covid and avoiding shops I had to use what material I had in my stash.
The yellow was from a poly cotton sheet that had never been used and the purple rabbit and chick print was less than a half meter piece that had been given to me. The rabbit applique was a free download from Adorableapplique.com and I tried to match the pink and purple from the print fabric to use on the rabbit. On the frilly cap sleeves I used a motif from a set I bought from Visionary Arts many many years ago in a Brother .pes format, but my wonderful new machine reads my old embroidery files without any problems even though they are not for my machine. I used some green in the embroidery to pick out the green in the print. As I was making this dress I kept saying to myself...yuk, what horrible colours, this will be a very ugly dress. Now that it is finished and hung on the back of the door I think it is growing on me! Whether my granddaughter will ever wear it doesn't bother me as making this has meant that I have now mastered putting in an invisible zip - a first for me.
