Idrija Lace Finished

I am not sure when I started this piece.  I mentioned it in a blog on 20th April when we were in Covid Lock Down - but I had done nothing since then.   All my other projects were finished and I couldn't summon up any enthusiasm for anything really - but this has been sat on my drawing board area and needed to be finished.  Well it is done!  It took three days of effort, and another half hour just to take out all the pins!  It was a challenge as I had never done anything as complicated, repetitive or fine.  However, I have to admit to liking the finished result - so much so that I think I will try another Idrija project.  Picking it up again after such a long absence reminded me why I liked lace.  The actual motions of picking up the bobbins, twisting them to form the lace and placing the pins is a slow process, but I have to admit to it being quite soothing and calming.  Time is irrelevant - your thoughts wander - and it is relaxing.  I do get back ache though as I have to use a daylight magnifying glass some of the time and towards the end, most of the time.  I need to find a better way of sitting as I am most probably doing it wrong!!  So lets see what I can do next as now that I have finished this bit of lace I want to do another!
